### 'Ki-am Sansu Jo-eodo' by Kim Myung-jae

This is a masterful 'Ki-am Sansu Jo-eodo' (rocky landscape and fishing boat painting) by the esteemed artist Kim Myung-jae.

While Kim Myung-jae is often known for his floral and bird paintings, this piece is considered one of his finest works, depicting a serene fishing scene amidst a dramatic rocky landscape. It showcases his versatility and artistic prowess.

Kim Myung-jae (1922-1989) was a celebrated Korean painter from Suncheon, South Jeolla Province. He was one of the three prominent disciples of Nam-neung Heo Geon, learning landscape painting from Heo Geon and floral/bird painting from Jang Woo-seong.

This ink and light color painting is a landscape that features steep, rugged cliffs and mountains on the left. The artist skillfully uses variations in ink tones to express the three-dimensionality of the rocks and the lushness of the forest. On the right, a tranquil river flows with two small sailboats. One boat recedes behind the cliff, while the other glides leisurely on the expansive river, creating a sense of visual depth and spaciousness.

The artwork has been removed from its frame. While there are some age-related marks consistent with its history, the painting is in good condition.
