Chojeon (草田) Park Byung-sik is a renowned elder ceramist and monk (Dharma name: Hyo-gyeong, Pen name: Chojeon/Daeho) who has dedicated decades to shaping clay at the foot of Tohamsan Mountain in the ancient city of Gyeongju.
His ceramic world and key characteristics are as follows:
Artistic World: Primarily creates traditional Celadon porcelain, black-glazed pottery, and large moon jars.
Buddhist Influence: Considers the process of crafting pottery and firing kilns as a form of spiritual discipline. He is famous for intricately carving the Prajnaparamita Sutra (Heart Sutra) onto the surface of his pottery using engraving or calligraphy.
