A small, fan-shaped brush holder and ink pot.

This piece evokes memories of using ink to practice English penmanship in the 1970s.

It is called a '필삽' (pilsap), meaning a brush holder, as one would dip a fine brush in ink and then place it in the holder. While similar to a '필가' (pilga), or brush rest, the defining difference is its dual function of holding ink, acting as an ink pot ('묵호', mukho).

The piece is decorated all over with a modified scrollwork (dangcho-mun) design, popular from the mid-Qing Dynasty onwards. The iron content in the clay, visible as rust marks on the flattened base from the firing process, also serves as an indicator of the item's age.

There is a minor chip on the rim, but it does not significantly affect its use or aesthetic appreciation. Overall, the condition is excellent. (Refer to photos 6/7 and 7/7).

부채꼴 모양의 작은 필삽 겸 묵호입니다.
70년대에 잉크를 찍어 영어 펜맨쉽을 썼던
기억을 떠올리는 기물입니다.
세필로 먹물을 찍어 쓰다가 꽂아두는 기능을 하기에
필삽(筆揷)이라 하는데, 필가(筆架)와 같다고도 할 수 있지만,
먹물을 담는 기능(묵호, 墨壺)도 겸하는 것이
필가와의 차이점이라 하겠습니다.
청 중기 이후에 유행한 변형 당초문 도안이 기물 전체를
장식하고 있는데, 노태 상태의 평평한 바닥에서는
태토 속 철분 성분이 소성 시 밖으로 나와 녹이 슨
철수 현상도 이 기물의 나이를 알려주는 요소라 하겠습니다.
미세 유가 한 곳 있기는 하나 사용과 감상에 큰 하자가 아닌,
전체적으로 매우 양호한 상태라 하겠습니다.(사진 6/7, 7/7 참조)
