This is an uncirculated 1972 5 Won coin issued by the Bank of Korea, preserving its original luster and condition from the time of minting.

Due to inflation, coins of 1 and 5 Won began to disappear from circulation starting in the 1980s. Consequently, the 1 Won and 5 Won coins ceased general circulation after 1991. From subsequent years, they were only issued in mint sets, making them increasingly difficult to find in the market.
