This is a traditional soapstone pot (Saeong), historically used in noble households and royal palaces to cook 1-2 servings of warm rice or stews.

Crafted from finely carved soapstone, a natural stone, it has lower thermal conductivity but exceptionally high heat retention. The warmth lingers long after the heat is turned off, making it ideal for creating crispy rice bottoms (nurungji) and perfectly steamed rice.

The exact manufacturing date is unknown, but this genuine antique soapstone pot bears the natural patina of age, clearly indicating it was handcrafted by an artisan decades ago. It exhibits a sturdy and beautiful construction.

Unlike modern factory-made products, it possesses the unique heft of natural stone, with a distinct texture and weight felt when handled. It is a remarkable piece with significant collector's value.
