This is a wall vase inscribed with 'Tiehuaxian' from the renowned Zisha pottery company established in Shanghai in 1913 (Republic of China Year 2) by Dai Guobao (1875~1926, from Yixing, Jiangsu Province), a famous ceramic artist and Zisha master. Dai Guobao was renowned for his intricate carving and painting on ceramics using an iron pen, which led him to name his company Tiehuaxian. He later collaborated with famous Zisha artisans in Yixing.

This vessel is a wall vase intricately carved with lively depictions of monkeys, birds, and squirrels on wood. It is believed to have been produced in the early to mid-20th century, during the era when Dai Guobao's son, Dai Xiangming, continued the family business and enjoyed its peak.

Beyond its original purpose of 'art appreciation,' this piece holds significant value as a decorative item that can be hung on a wall to hold flowers or memos, adding a touch of luxury.

1913년(민국2년), 유명 각자(刻瓷) 예술가이자, 자사도술가였던
대국보(戴國寶, 1875~1926, 강소성 구용 사람)가
상하이에 설립한 유명한 자사 도기 전문회사에서 제작했다는
당명관 '철화헌제'가 새겨져 있는 벽병입니다.
대국보는 도자기에 철필(송곳)로 시문과 그림을 정교하게
새기는 것으로 명성이 높아, 상호를 철화헌이라 지었으며, 이후
의흥(이싱)의 유명자사 장인들과 협업하기도 하였습니다.
본 기물은 나무에 원숭이들과 새와 다람쥐 등이 생동감 있게 조각된
벽병(壁甁)으로, 대국보의 아들, 대상명이 가업을 이어 운영하며
전성기를 누렸던 20세기 초.중반에 제작된 기물로 볼 수 있습니다.
본 기물은 '예술품 감상'이라는 본래의 목적 외에
벽에 걸어두고 꽃이나 메모를 꽂는 등 실용적 용도와
고급스러움을 연출하는 장식적 효과를 내는 소품으로서도
그 가치가 작지 않다 하겠습니다.
