This is the third best-of album by Ikimono-gakari, released exactly 10 years after their major debut with their 1st single 'SAKURA' on March 15, 2006.

The title 'Chō Ikimono Bakari' (ten-nen kinen) is a play on words, with 'ten-nen' (natural monument) substituting for '10 years' (ten-nen), referencing the otter, an animal said to resemble Yoshioaki, which is also a natural monument.

The limited edition includes a bonus disc 'Chō B-Men Bakari + Member's 3 Sad Songs' featuring coupling tracks and three member-selected songs, in addition to the three CDs of the regular edition. It also includes special features such as cards and stickers.

Similar to the 2010 best-of album '~Members Best Selection~', this album features songs personally selected by the members from their previous releases. The limited edition includes a total of 60 songs, comprising 45 songs from past works plus 5 new songs ('Ikou', 'Tsubasa', 'Sweet! Sweet! Music!', 'Manatsu no Elise', 'Bokura no Yume').

All coupling songs on the bonus disc, except for 'Hot Milk', are appearing on an album for the first time. With the inclusion of these tracks, all original songs released after their major debut up to the release of this album (excluding 'Last Scene') are now included.

The album debuted at number 1 on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart for the week of March 28, 2016, selling approximately 137,000 copies in its first week. This further extended their record for the most consecutive number 1 albums by a male-female group.

2006년 3월 15일의 1st 싱글 「SAKURA」발표에 의한 메이저 데뷔로부터 정확히 10년이 되는 날에 발매된, 통산 3번째의 베스트 앨범.
제목 '천년기념'은 '10년기념'의 10부분을 영어 'ten'으로 바꾼 것이고,​ 그 밖에도 요시오카의 풍모를 닮았다고 알려진 수달이 천연기념물로 지정되어 있던 것도 걸고 있다.
초회생산 한정반에는 통상반의 CD 3장에 더해, 커플링 곡과 멤버가 셀렉트 한 3곡이 수록된 보너스 디스크 「초B면만+멤버 울음의 세 곡」외, 카드나 스티커 등 특전이 포함.
2010년 발매의 베스트 앨범 「~멤버스 BEST 셀렉션~」과 같이, 지금까지 발매된 작품으로부터 멤버 자신이 선곡한 악곡에, 신곡 5곡(「가자」, 「날개」, 「Sweet! Sweet! Music!」, 「한여름의 엘리제」, 「우리의 꿈」)을 포함한 총 45곡(초회 한정반은 60곡)을 수록.
덧붙여 보너스 디스크에 수록되어 있는 커플링곡은, 「핫 밀크」를 제외한 전곡이 앨범 첫 수록되었고, 이러한 악곡이 수록됨에 따라, 「라스트 씬」을 제외한, 메이저 데뷔 이후 본작 발매까지 발표된 모든 오리지널 곡이 앨범에 수록되게 되었다.
발매 첫주에 약 13.7만매를 판매, 2016년 3월 28일자 오리콘 주간 앨범 차트에서 첫 등장 1위를 획득. 자신이 기록을 보유한 남녀 혼성 그룹 연속 1위 획득 기록도 경신했다.
