## Joseon Dynasty Bunwon Kiln Celadon Fish-shaped Water Dropper (Special Grade A, Authentic)

**Dimensions:**
* Width & Length: 8 cm x 7.5 cm
* Height (Thickness): 3 cm

**Period:** Joseon Dynasty (Bunwon Kiln)

**Condition & Features:**
* **Special Grade A:** This piece is of exceptionally high quality, boasting a larger size than typical fish-shaped water droppers.
* **Authenticity Guaranteed:** We guarantee the authenticity of this artifact indefinitely.

This is a celadon, fish-shaped water dropper (yeonjeok) from the Bunwon Kiln of the Joseon Dynasty.

When magnified, the celadon glaze crystals on the fish scales shimmer like jewels. The glaze color is top-tier, and the form is exceptionally beautiful, truly representing a Special Grade A piece.

The deep cobalt blue, reminiscent of the deep sea or abyss, is characteristic of Bunwon celadon.

Its size is also slightly larger than the average fish-shaped water dropper.

While I may be biased as the owner, having seen numerous fish-shaped water droppers, I can confidently say this piece stands out for its beautiful form, vibrant glaze color that penetrates even the scales, and exceptional luster. It is a meticulously crafted ceramic.

The glaze color possesses a sophisticated depth, different from the commonly seen celadon tones.

It's so exquisite, a fly might slip and fall to its death.

Even similar-looking pieces have significant differences in their actual appearance. For antique ceramics, the distinction between top, middle, and bottom quality is substantial.

Each piece, unlike mass-produced items, is unique, reflecting the potter's individual touch. Even within the same kiln firing, conditions can vary, leading to subtle differences.

This ceramic embodies the expression, "so beautiful it wouldn't hurt to put it in my eyes."

It is a masterpiece.

The overall condition is flawless, the best possible. You will understand once you receive it.

Although not officially appraised due to appraisal fees exceeding the sale price, for items explicitly marked as authentic, we offer an unconditional guarantee of authenticity after the sale, serving this description as proof.

This is a ceramic piece you will not regret purchasing.

Thank you.

**A Word on Fish-Shaped Water Droppers...**

As I sometimes mention, some of you may look at the fish-shaped water droppers I offer and think they are expensive.

You might wonder why some are priced in the hundred thousands of won, while others are in the two hundred thousands. The primary factor for ceramics is, of course, its 'color' or 'luster'.

Briefly put, similar celadon water droppers you see are often not from the Bunwon Royal Kiln. Most cheaper ones are imitations from provincial kilns of that era or later fakes.

Fish-shaped and Haechi-shaped celadon water droppers are among the most frequently counterfeited items.

While provincial kiln celadon colors and shapes may appear similar, they lack the refined luster and form of royal kiln pieces, and even the base is different.

Currently, the domestic antique market is experiencing a period of cultural poverty, the cheapest it has ever been. In the face of a prolonged economic downturn, the prices of antique items from the past have become legendary.

For instance, a single Gilt-bronze Buddha statue from the Silla period, regardless of size, would easily cost thirty million won; otherwise, it wouldn't even be considered.

It's a regrettable and sad memory.

Even pottery pieces are largely fakes. If you have them professionally appraised, you'll find many were made in the 70s and 80s.

Some potters at the time deceived Japanese collectors who admired Korean pottery. You can even find news reports involving famous Intangible Cultural Heritage artisans related to such incidents.

This item is authentic and from the Bunwon Royal Kiln.

If its price were the same as a provincial kiln fish-shaped water dropper, that would be abnormal.

Whether you choose to purchase an authentic royal kiln piece for a few tens of thousands of won more, or opt for a lesser provincial kiln piece, is a matter of your discernment.

If it's not authentic, may my descendants be punished for three generations.
