**About the Album:**
The iconic album, *Pronounced Leh-'nerd Skin-'nerd*, was released in August 1973, marking a monumental moment for Southern Rock. The band's name itself originates from a strict high school gym teacher, Leonard Skinner, whose rigorous enforcement of hair length regulations at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida, ironically inspired Gary Rossington and his bandmates.
Formed from the ashes of the band My Backyard in the mid-60s, Lynyrd Skynyrd evolved through numerous member changes before solidifying their lineup. Their electrifying performances across the South, blending Country, Blues, and British Rock influences, quickly garnered a devoted fanbase, establishing them as Jacksonville's premier band by 1970.
Their breakthrough came in '72 when Al Kooper, leader of Blood, Sweat & Tears, discovered them during an Atlanta performance. This led to a contract with MCA Records under the Sounds of the South label. The resulting album featured timeless classics like "Gimme Three Step," "Simple Man," "Tuesday's Gone," and the legendary "Free Bird." The latter, inspired by a poignant question from Allen Collins' girlfriend – "if I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?" – became an anthem, reaching #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and propelling the album to Gold status.
The album's fresh sound and dynamic live energy captivated audiences. The "Three Guitar Army" of Allen Collins, Ed King, and Gary Rossington delivered a searing, volcanic performance that defined the Southern Rock sound and solidified Lynyrd Skynyrd's place in rock history.

Leonard Skinner
Ronnie Van Zant (lead vocalist), Bob Burns (drums)Allen Collins(Guitar), Larry Junstrom(Bass)
MCA 레코드 산하 Sounds of the South 레이블과 계약을 맺으면서,
"Gimme Three Step", "Simple Man", "Tuesday's Gone",
Ronnie Van Zan, Allen Collins,Gary Rossington
"if I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"
