This is the first volume of an antique Korean handwritten manuscript titled 'Amseomallok' (巖棲漫錄).

'Amseomallok' translates to 'Miscellaneous Records of Living in Seclusion,' signifying a collection of thoughts and observations recorded freely while living in a rocky mountain dwelling. The text is written in Classical Chinese and comprises reflections on the principles of nature (heaven, earth, mountains, rivers, plants, and animals), human nature, ethics, and worldly conduct. It is characterized as a collection of reflections and miscellaneous notes.

The manuscript is meticulously handwritten in ink on blue-lined paper, featuring neat yet distinctive calligraphy that showcases the scribe's individuality. As a handwritten copy created by an individual, rather than a woodblock print or a modern facsimile, this item is unique and unlikely to be encountered again.

Bound at the end of the main text is the 'Seowonrokseo' (田園錄序), written on a different, older paper. This piece functions as a clan document, detailing principles related to the gratitude owed to parents and ancestors, harmony among siblings, ancestral rites, and the preservation of land and family assets. It offers valuable insights into the ancestral rituals, inheritance practices, and land management of the era, making it an interesting resource for folklore and social history research.

Dimensions are approximately 16x24cm, comprising a total of 48 pages. Behind the front cover is an inner page with the book title, and between the main text and the back cover are two inserted pages. One of these inserted pages contains separate handwritten text on both its front and back sides.

As an old book, it exhibits signs of age, including overall wear, stains, and abrasion. Additionally, eight pages in the middle of the main text have some damage to the lower left portion. Please examine the provided photographs carefully to assess the condition.

옛 한문 필사본 《암서만록(巖棲漫錄)》 상권(上卷)입니다.

‘암서만록’은 바위산에 깃들어 지내며 보고 느낀 생각을 자유롭게 기록한 글이라는 뜻입니다. 천지(天地)·산천(山川)·초목(草木)·조수(鳥獸)의 이치와 사람의 마음, 인륜(人倫)과 처세에 관한 생각을 한문으로 기록한 수상록·잡록 성격의 책입니다.

본문은 청색 괘선지에 먹으로 정성스럽게 필사하였으며, 단정하면서도 필사자의 개성이 살아 있는 글씨가 돋보입니다. 목판본이나 현대 영인본이 아니라 사람이 직접 써서 만든 필사본으로, 동일한 책을 다시 만나기 어려운 일점물(一點物)입니다.

책 뒤쪽에는 본문과 다른 고지(古紙)에 작성된 「전원록서(田園錄序)」가 함께 들어 있습니다. 부모와 조상의 은혜, 형제간의 화목, 조상 봉사(奉祀), 전답과 가문 재산의 보존 원칙 등을 기록한 문중 문서 성격의 글입니다. 당시 가문의 제사·상속·전답 운영관을 살필 수 있어 민속사·생활사 자료로도 흥미롭습니다.

크기는 약 16×24cm이며 총 48장입니다. 전표지 뒤에는 책명이 적힌 내지 1장이 있고, 본문과 후표지 사이에는 간지 2장이 있습니다. 그중 1장에는 앞뒤 양면으로 별도의 필사문이 남아 있습니다.

오래된 책으로 전체적인 세월감과 얼룩, 마모가 있으며, 본문 가운데 8장은 왼쪽 아랫부분에 일부 결손이 있습니다. 사진으로 상태를 충분히 확인하시기 바랍니다.
