**About R.J. Mitchell:**
Supermarine Aviation's chief designer (1895-1937), Reginald J. Mitchell, began developing the Spitfire in the mid-1930s, with its first flight in 1936. It was Britain's first all-metal fighter, celebrated for its exceptional maneuverability due to its aerodynamic, elegant elliptical wings. The Spitfire played a crucial role in the Battle of Britain, defending the UK against the German Luftwaffe. Sadly, Mitchell passed away at a young age in 1937, before witnessing the aircraft's full impact.
